True Cash Discount

A true cash discount is when a business offers their customer a discount for paying with cash of check, rather than with a credit or debit card.

Non-Cash Adjustment

With a Non-Cash Adjustment, the merchant’s list prices will reflect the built-in cash discount incentive. Any customer who choses to pay by credit or signature debit does not receive the discount and will see a Non-Cash Adjustment displayed on their receipt.

Surcharging

A surcharge is a fee added to the cost of the purchase for the “privilege” of using a credit card. Merchants are required to follow additional steps to be in compliance with he card brands.
